Ann grew up in southern Ontario where she completed her Bachelor’s of Science in Human Kinetics at the University of Guelph. She then moved to the University of Arizona to complete her doctoral research with Dr. Andy Fuglevand. She then completed postdoctoral training with Dr. Greg Funk at the University of Alberta. In 2017, she started her lab at Midwestern University, to delve into how intrinsic, synaptic and modulatory properties control motoneuron activity during the relatively “simple” behaviour of breathing.
